Brian Rowback will become the new Regional Director for Region 1 effective October 1, 2007. Brian has served as a key member of the Department’s executive team in a number of capacities, most recently as Director of the Operations Division. He will bring leadership and innovation in his new assignment directing the Department’s resources in the Capital District Region. I want to thank Brian for his dedication and commitment while serving as Director, Operations Division, and his willingness to take on a new challenge.
Dr. Gary McVoy, Director of the Office of Transportation Systems Maintenance, has agreed to serve as Acting Director of the Operations Division as we search internally and externally for candidates to fill this important position.
I want to thank Acting Regional Director Dick Frederick for his stewardship of Region 1 during the last few months.

Nancy Mulholland will become the Department’s Chief Information Officer effective September 17, 2007. Ms. Mulholland has a long and distinguished career in both private and public sector information management. Included among her many challenging responsibilities have been service as the Chief Information Officer at the Workers’ Compensation Board; Project Executive for IBM in their State and Local Government Practice; Deputy Director for Statewide Initiatives in the State Office for Technology, Project Director for Systems Modernization for Workers' Compensation, Director of Data Administration for the Office of Mental Health, and Technical Director at the General Electric Consulting Services Corporation.
In these positions of responsibility, Ms. Mulholland has achieved significant success advancing the objectives of her organizations. This success has resulted in the esteem of her peers and she has been the recipient of several important honors and awards which include: a 2006 Government Technology Council Best of New York Award, the designation by Computerworld as one of the Premier 100 IT Leaders of 2005, and a New York State Forum 2005 Award for Excellence in Government Information Services.
