(Ronkonkoma, NY) - The Long Island Contractors Association, Inc. (L.I.C.A.) today announced the appointment of Marc Herbst as its new Executive Director, according to Board Chairman James Pratt, III. Mr. Herbst will be responsible for administering and managing the association’s day-to-day affairs.

“After a thorough search of many excellent candidates, the Board of Directors of the Long Island Contractors’ Association is proud to announce that we were able to select a highly qualified individual with vast knowledge, experience and expertise in the transportation and public policy arena. Marc Herbst will be an aggressive advocate for those issues that directly impact the members of the construction industry in the Nassau/Suffolk region,” announced Mr. Pratt.

A Long Island native, Mr. Herbst brings to L.I.C.A. nearly twenty-five years of experience dealing with public works. He joins the association after serving the New York State Thruway Authority as its Director of Transportation Planning and Environmental Services. In that position he also served as the Executive Project Manager for the Tappan Zee Bridge/I-287 corridor improvement study.

While representing part of Long Island in the New York State Legislature for five terms, former Assemblyman Herbst concentrated his efforts in his field of expertise, serving as the ranking member of the Assembly Transportation Committee. During his public service, he worked tirelessly to ensure the need for a safe and economically viable infrastructure to assist our communities.

Herbst, who holds a Master’s of Science degree in Transportation Planning and Engineering from Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, began his career working in the highway construction and maintenance field.

L.I.C.A. represents the interests of Long Island’s premier general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and industry supporters.
